Rooms

Our main nursery building used to be a former school which dates back to 1840. The building is divided into three core areas. Each area has been newly refurbished, decorated, designed and equipped with a range of age groups in mind. These areas include a specific baby room as well as a main hall which is used as a pre-school room and a specifically built conservatory which will form the toddler room.

Baby Room ( 3 months - 18 months)

In our baby room we can accommodate up to 7 babies. This room is specifically designed with babies in mind. It has been equipped with a wide variety of toys that will help stimulate babies and younger children. Our environment encourages children to develop physical skills such as sitting, crawling, standing and walking. We utilise the benefits of calming music in this room and have lots of song time to encourage personal, social and emotional development. We also introduce messy and sensory play to aid your child to develop creativity and use all their senses.

Toddler Room (18 months - 3 years)

In our toddler room we can accommodate up to 12 toddlers. We know that at this age your child will be getting more independent, strong willed and very demanding for continuous stimulation. We also know that children of this age may burn out their energy levels and require sleep or quiet time. With this in mind we have designed our toddler room to be in close proximity to the toilets, snack area and outdoor facilities. The room incorporates both adult and child led activities meaning your child can begin to choose activies and resources independently. These activities include:

  1. *Singing and music time

  2. *Dancing and movement - Yoga classes

  3. *Circle and story time

  4. *Creative activities including painting, sticking, gluing and play dough

  5. *Role play and home corner

  6. *Construction toys such as mega blocks

  7. *Jigsaws

Pre-school Room (3 years - 5 years)

In our pre-school room we can accommodate up to 28 children. We understand that this is the vital stage when your child is starting to become school ready therefore we have specifically trained staff to aid this delicate transition. All our staff are fully trained to support your pre-schooler in all aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. In this room your child will cover all aspects of development, focusing on Personal, Social and Emotional development, Physical development, Communication and Language, Mathematics, Literacy, Arts and Design and Understanding the World. The room will again incorporate both adult and child led activities meaning your child will be encouraged to stretch their abilities and knowledge whilst been able to choose activities based upon their own individual interests and learning styles. Activities include:

  1. *Leaning shapes and colours

  2. *Recognising and learning Alphabet and numbers

  3. *Using phonics to aid development in letter recognition and writing

  4. *Circle time and Story time - encouraging children to understand the structure of stories and written words

  5. *Music sessions - Supported by caterpillar music

  6. *Role play and home corner

  7. *Construction Area where children are encouraged to construct with a purpose in mind

  8. *Creative and sensory activities - sand and water play, paint, sticking and gluing.
